 Playa Carrizalillo is distinguished for its beauty and the tranquility of its water, perfect for snorkeling and going on boat rides. It is a small bay no greater than 300 meters which you can get to by walking, since cars can’t get in easily. Once you reach the bay, you must go down approximately 170 steps with an angle of inclination so elevated that will test the strongest knees. Going up these stairs will most definitely get rid of the drunkenness (or at least the breath) of the bravest. The beach, in general, is swell, meaning soft. Nevertheless, the part that opens to open sea generates pipe waves that attracts beginner surfers or those that are looking for simple show offs. With no doubt about its tranquility, natural beauty and exclusivity, Playa Carrizalillo is the best option in Puerto Escondido.
With an extension of 2.5 km, it is considered (the third largest wave in the world) for its ideal waves to surfboard reaching a height of up to 10 meters. This attracts professional surfers from around the world, with huge sponsors carrying out international events. In Zicatela, you will live the night life with over 20 bars and night clubs, all located in the main tourist street called Av. Del Morro. Playa Zicatela is approximately 5 minutes away in automobile, or if you would like a good walk, it is only about 20 minutes away. Quinta Carrizalillo can be found at just about 3 km away from this magnificent beach.
Its sand is white, fine and with a small slope. The water is temperate, transparent, with blue and green tones, little depth and smooth, calm waves. For its characteristics, it is considered a natural swimming pool, great to practice snorkeling and swimming. This beach is located in the southwest of Puerto Escondido, 500 meters (1640.41 ft) behind the back of the Municipal Agency. You can have access to this beautiful beach by going down a paved road. By Walking, you can reach a path located in the corner of the principal beach. You can observe beautiful landscapes under water, built mainly by marine flora and fauna and rock, sandy surfaces.
 It measures approximately 500 meters of length by a width that varies between 40 and 80 meters. It presents a smooth slope, fine grey colored sand and no contamination. The water is of blue/green color, temperate temperature and regular tidal swells. It is possible to hire the service of embarkations to carry out trips around the different beaches of Puerto Escondido or to practice any other aquatic sport. The embarkations should be moved away from the beach, approximately 15 or 20 miles out at sea. Some of the following species can be captured: Sailfish, goldfish, Merlin and rooster fish. During the month of November, a national and international fishing tournament is carried out, with duration of two or three days.
Playa Manzanillo is a very attractive beach, with approximate dimensions of 70 m length and 30 m width. Its sand is white, fine and with a small slope. The water is temperate, transparent, with blue and green tones, little depth and moderate tidal swell. This beach is appropriate for swimming, snorkeling and sun bathing. It is an ideal place to practice snorkeling, along with Puerto Angelito and Playa Carrizalillo. These beaches present optimum conditions for this sport; they present enough transparency, little depth, calm tidal swells and temperate temperature. You can observe beautiful under water landscapes, built mainly by marine flora and fauna and rock, sandy surfaces. You are also able to rent snorkeling equipment This beach is located to the west of the Bahia Principal of Puerto Escondido. You can get here by walking down the playa Principal, until you reach the viewpoint “sueño posible”. Walk approximately 150 meters (492.12 ft) down a walkway of stairs that leads you to the beach. You may only access Puerto Angelito and viewpoint “sueño posible” in automobile.
It has a length of approximately 200 meters and a width that varies between 40 and 50 meters. The water and sand present the same characteristics as playa Principal. It’s ideal to practice surfing, especially for beginners. You can observe beautiful sunsets here in Playa Marinero. To get to Playa Marinero, you must take the coastal highway. Once you reach Puerto Angelito, divert to the right until you reach Playa Marinero.
The beach is of great length, divided into three sections through rocks. Along with pioneering vegetation, palm trees and the vegetation of thorny thicket on the outskirts, builds a very nice and pleasant natural environment. The width of the beach varies between the 30 and 70 meters. Its sand is grey colored and fine; it presents a smooth slope and temperate water of blue/green tones with a moderate tidal swell. Playa Bacocho is located 4 kilometers (2.49 miles) to the west of the population, taking the coastal highway with destination to Pinotepa Nacional, until you reach Fraccionamiento Bacocho, divert to the left until you reach the beach.
